A Touch of Rust Market started in my home town of Decatur, Tx at the Wise County Fairgrounds, literally across the street from where I grew up. We hit the ground running with an incredible opening event, and we’ve been growing ever since. We have been truly blessed with amazing people to work with, great vendors, and a community that always greets us with open arms. We’re heading into our fifth year with a calendar that’s bigger than ever, with vendor events in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. At every show, you’ll see me, my husband, and possibly our kids, nieces, and nephews. It’s a family thang, never a franchise, and we’re at every show & having a blast while we’re there!
This crazy ride all started out as a hobby, that grew into a bit of an obsession, and finally into a business. Yet the basis for doing it remains the same; I love to find old things, and bring back their beauty and usefulness. Every piece that is reloved, restored or repurposed is a part of our history saved from the landfills. Celebrating the creativity, talent, and joy that every vendor puts into this and other creative endeavors is what makes up A Touch of Rust.
For the same reason I’ll oooh and ahhh over a rusty windmill, I’m drawn to places with a little bit of rust, dust, and history. You’ll see that in some of the venues where the Markets are held; a dirt floor barn at a County Fairground is one of my favorite venues. There’s nothing wrong with a little dust on your boots!
If you’d like to see us near your home town, or know of a great venue, just drop us a line! We are looking for unique venues, off the beaten path, with lots of room. If you know of a great place, we’d love to hear about it.
