It’s hard to believe we are finishing up our fourth year hosting our own Market! It’s a combination of a great Texas Craft show, and an eclectic upscale Flea Market; a little bit funky, a little bit of the unexpected, a whole lot of “WOW!” It’s been kind of a wild ride, with ups and downs, but it’s been a lot of fun, too! We could not have done one single bit of it without the vendors who were willing to take a chance on a brand new show, and who come back and continue working with us season after season.
So I wanted to introduce ya’ll to some of these amazing and creative folks, but quickly realized there are so many, that this will have to be a series. If I introduced them all at once it would be a small book! To kick this off, I’ll feature some of the vendors that you can meet at our upcoming North Texas Vendor Event, the Holiday Market in Decatur, Tx on Nov 18th. This event is always held at the Wise County Fairgrounds the weekend before Thanksgiving. It’s a great show, and we use every building at the Fairgrounds, so there’s lot to see. Best of all, it’s just a skip and a jump from Dallas, Denton, Fort Worth, and Wichita Falls, so it’s super-easy to come out and see these wonderful artisans and exhibitors. While your shopping you can enjoy some Hot Kettle Corn, great Texas music, and a sort of festival vibe that comes from using the WHOLE Fairground for this event. Oh, and you can see the man of the season: Santa Claus, in his Cowboy best!
North Texas Vendors
I have to start with Jim and Brenda Geisler from Anson, Tx. They are my unofficial ambassadors, and always recommend us to others. We love them for this alone, but they also have one of the coolest booths at the show. From found items like turquoise lockers (turquoise! I shoulda bought ’em) to refinished furniture and metal art, the Geisler’s always bring some amazin’ stuff. Their “spot” at the Market is the southeast corner of the Rabbit Barn. Also pretty exciting: Brenda has started an event called “The Girlfriends Wandering Market,” so watch for it! Happily, we’ll still be seeing them at A Touch of Rust.
Sara has great boutique clothing. Not only does she vend at A Touch of Rust and other North Texas vendor events, but she has an online store, and a booth at “Pickled Pink” in Keller,Tx. Busy lady! From Newark, Tx, Sara’s been at every Market we’ve had in Decatur, and we so appreciate that! You’ll find Haute & Gaudy in the Women’s building, in the northwest corner. Tell her I sent ya!
Another long-time vendor in the Women’s building is Tonja Alvis, with The Gypsy Beetle. She always has amazing vintage finds, handcrafted items, holiday decor and more! There’s lots to see in this booths, and you’ll want to snatch it all up! You’ll find one of a kind Christmas gifts, and probably something amazing for yourself, too!
If you’re thing is candle-sniffing, then head straight to the Poultry Barn when you come to the Market. DLK is booth # 3 on the West side of the building. They will make your nose happy. 😉 I love these candles; great scent, and since they’re soy, there’s no smoke or residue, and they last a long time!
Well, I’ve got time for one more, I think, so I have to tell you about Savannah Hoffman Designs. Owned by Felicia and Liz Akop, who are also Burlesque performers! How cool is that? Their booth reflects their funky vibe, and you’ll find everything from custom jewelry and vintage clothes to boho and western decor. Savannah Hoffman can be found in the the rabbit barn, right next to Texas Tin Works.
